The invention discloses an energy saving device and method of a galvanized pot. The energy saving device comprises a pot body and a furnace nose for introducing a steel belt into the pot body, wherein the pot body is provided with a pot opening, and a pot cover for covering the pot opening is arranged on the pot opening at the rear part of the furnace nose. According to the energy saving device, the surface area of the galvanized pot can be reduced through the pot cover, namely, the heat radiation area of the galvanized pot in air is reduced; through reducing the heat radiation area, the power consumption of the galvanized pot is reduced; after the surface temperature of molten zinc is ensured, the surface temperature can be maintained to be consistent with the temperature of the molten zinc at the core part, the temperature gradient of the molten zinc from the surface to the core part is reduced; especially, the pot cover for covering a high-temperature and corrosion resisting ceramic fiber material is capable of stabilizing the liquid level, thus the fluctuation of the liquid level of the galvanized pot is reduced, and the uniformity of a strip steel zinc layer and the surface quality of a galvanized plate are improved.
