The Reliability Measure of Tree Topology Based on Surviving Edges

2009
A wireless sensor network is a self-organizing network which is composed of a large number of intelligent sensor nodes. The network topology is also changing with the residual energy of sensors. And the tree topology is an important and special one in sensor network. For reliability measure, it is important to find more reliable tree topology in the same class. In this paper, a new reliability measure of tree topology is proposed as the probability that the edge-induced subgraph is connected. Different from traditional all-terminal reliability, this new reliability measure focuses on residual edge connectedness and is able to distinguish the reliabilities of different trees which are in the same class. Furthermore, star S is also proved to be uniformly best tree under our proposed reliability measure in its class.
