Phosphate Transfer and 31P Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy Pre and Post Hemofiltration (HF)

1986
Plasma phosphate levels off during hemofiltration and returns to basal values after hemofiltration (1, 2, 3, 4, 5). Plasma phosphate kinetics cannot be related to delayed mass transfer. A phosphate transfer to the plasma compartment occurs, probably from a cellular reservoir. Phosphorus-31 nuclear magnetic resonance (31P-NMR) spectroscopy was used in order to specify this transfer, its effect on the energy metabolism of the skeleral muscle cell. Furthermore the influence of an acute variation of the kalemia on this transfer was investigated.
