Endoscopic carpal tunnel decompression

Dr. James C.Y. Chow, Dr Ichiro Okutsu and Dr John Ageeseparately and concurrently started working on an endoscopicrelease of the transverse carpal ligament in 1985, unaware ofthe work of each other. The aim of both of them was to create awith minimal surgical trauma and maximal function. Dr. Chowwas able to perform a surgery in September 1987 using hismethod of endoscopic carpal tunnel release.The first two reports in the literature on endoscopic carpaltunnel release (ECTR), written independently by Okutsu et aland Chow
