Antimicrobial polypeptides and its uses.

2002
An isolated nucleic acid molecule comprising a nucleotide sequence selected from: (a) a nucleotide sequence shown in SEQ ID NO: 100 or 102; (b) a nucleotide sequence encoding a polypeptide shown in SEQ ID NO: 101 or 103; (c) a nucleotide sequence encoding a polypeptide having a sequence identity of at least 90% with any one of the amino acid sequences of (b), wherein said polypeptide possesses antimicrobial defensive activity; (d) a nucleotide sequence that hybridizes under highly restrictive conditions with any one of the nucleotide sequences of (a), wherein said nucleotide sequence encodes a polypeptide that possesses antimicrobial defensive activity, and where said highly restrictive conditions include formamide hybridization. 50%, 1M NaCl, 1% SDS at 37 ° C, and a wash in 0.1 x SSC from 60 to 65 ° C; (e) a nucleotide sequence that has a 99% identity with a nucleotide sequence encoding any one of the amino acid sequences of (b), wherein said nucleotide sequence encodes a polypeptide that possesses antimicrobial defensive activity; (f) a nucleotide sequence comprising at least 25 contiguous nucleotides of any one of the nucleotide sequences of (a); wherein said nucleotide sequence encodes a polypeptide that possesses antimicrobial defensive activity; and (g) a nucleotide sequence consisting of a complement of any one of the nucleotide sequences of (a), (b), (c), (d), (e) or (f).
