The invention includes a method of inhibiting the proliferation necessary for the DNA synthesis of human sebocytes through the sole or combined action of inhibitors of the proteins expressed by these cells alanyl aminopeptidase (APN), and dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DP IV). DNA synthesis (proliferation) of human sebocytes is dose-dependently inhibited by administration of inhibitors of APN and / or the DP IV. Our invention shows that the administration of inhibitors of the abovementioned enzymes or corresponding preparations and administration forms thereof are suitable for the therapy and prevention of dermatological disorders with sebaceous hyperproliferation and modified states of differentiation.
