臺北、香港與上海成為國際金融中心之條件分析-外國銀行設立分支機構的決定因素

This article analyzes the conditions of Taipei, Hong Kong and Shanghai as becoming an international financial center and the attractiveness of these three cities by measuring the number of branch offices set up by multinational banks. Differing from previous studies, we investigate the factors of which the foreign bank how to determine the number and locations of branch offices. From the empirical analysis could find that the GDP of home country, the geographic distance between home and host countries and the number of other multinational banks in host countries positively correlated with the number of banks established by the same home country. As for individual ones, multinational banks with more assets and more social similarities between home and host countries tend to set up more branches. Besides, the openness of host financial market is positively correlated with the number of its foreign bank branch offices.
