Radial Head Arthroplasty

2020
Radial head prostheses have been developed to decrease the possible complications following radial head resection surgery. Over the last decades radial head implants underwent significant evolution in materials and shapes and nowadays there is a worldwide consensus in using the radial head replacement in patients with unfixable radial head fractures associated to complex elbow instability. Good results are reported in many series with medium follow-up, with low percentage of implant failure. The main complications are loosening, stiffness, heterotopic ossification, and capitellar erosion.
