Construction of TiO2/CdS heterojunction photocatslysts with enhanced visible light activity

2018
Abstract In this paper, well-defined TiO 2 /CdS hollow hybrids with large specific surface area and improved visible light absorption were synthesized as photocatalysts towards degradation of organic pollutes under visible light irradiation. As started from SiO 2 nanosphere template, TiO 2 and CdS were successively loaded, the TiO 2 /CdS hollow hybrids were finally obtained after calcination and alkali etching processes. These TiO 2 /CdS hollow hybrids were investigated towards organic pollutes (Rhodamine B and phenol) degradation, showing the enhanced photocatalytic activity and good recyclability while compared with pure TiO 2 hollow nanospheres. With the improved visible light photocatalytic performance, these TiO 2 /CdS hollow hybrids are expected to be potential photocatalysts in environmental remediation.
