Hydrate von Polyglykoläthern und ihre Strukturen

Am Modell n-Dodecylalkoholheptaglykolather/Wasser wird durch polarisationsoptische Untersuchungen, Viskositatsmessungen, Messung der Trubungspunkte, Aufnahme von automatischen Abkuhlungskurven und durch Differentialthermoanalysen ein Phasendiagramm zusammengesetzt. Es wird gezeigt, das die auftretenden Phasen durch verschiedene Hydrate bedingt sind, bei denen eine definierte Anzahl von Wassermolekeln an jede Polyglykolathermolekel angelagert ist.- Bei den niederen Hydraten wird durch die Anlagerung der Wassermolekeln, die Helixstruktur der wasserfreien Polyglykolather kaum verandert, wahrend bei den hoheren Polyglykolatherpolyhydraten fur die einzelnen Hydratstufen typische flussigkristalline Strukturen auftreten. - Anhand von polarisationsoptischen Mikroaufnahmen werden die Strukturen der verschiedenen Hydrate vorgestellt. Ihr molekularer Aufbau und Bildungsmechanismus werden zur Diskussion gestellt. Based on the model n-dodecylalcoholheptaglycol ether/water, a phase diagram is compiled through measurements with the polarization microscope, viscosity measurements, measurement of the cloud points, plotting of automatic cooling curves and through differential thermo- analysis. It is shown that the phases that are formed are due to various hydrates, in which a defined number of water molecules is bound to each polyglycol ether molecule. - With the low hydrates, the helical structure of the anhydrous polyglycol ethers is hardly changed, whereas with the higher polyglycol ether polyhydrates, typical liquid crystalline structures are formed for the individual hydrate stages. - The structures of the different hydrates are presented with the aid of photographs taken under the polarization microscope. Their molecular structure and their process of formation are discussed.
