An efficient solution method for frictional contact problems

Abstract Frictional contact constraints on the possible contact surface are conveniently expressed by error vector, and an efficient solution method for frictional contact problems is presented. Convergence of the proposed solution method is mathematically guaranteed by the error reduction method, and convergence rate is drastically improved by reduction of the ratio of extreme eigenvalues of the iteration matrix. For an ordinary linear equation, the presented accelerating technique gives the same theoretical value of convergence rate as the Chebyshev acceleration technique which is ranked as one of the most efficient iteration schemes for an ordinary linear equation.
