Theoretical reference for the teaching project of the school of dentistry at the Federal University of Santa Catarina

The aim of this article is to present a theoretical reference for the Teaching Project of the School of Dentistry at the Federal University of Santa Catarina – UFSC, comprising a group of principles and values, which will guide a series of orderly activities and means, interconnected to one another, for the education of dentists in our institution. The aim of the School of Dentistry at UFSC, when establishing this theoretical reference, was to contextualize, investigate, and teach state-of-the-art dentistry, essential to train qualified professionals to practice a contemporary profession, promoting health and based on ethics, and on moral, scientific, and philosophic principles. In addition, this reference takes into consideration the socioeconomic reality of our institution and is aimed at referencing the knowledge produced in the policy, management, educational, and health care areas.
