A Red Road in Jamaica

2014
Jamaica has a high level of mineral resources that can be used in road repair. A mixture of lime, gypsum, red mud, and terra rossa has been tested and found to be a low-cost means of repairing rural roads. Due to Jamaica’s lack of fossil fuel resources, it is necessary to import fuel to produce cement, which is costly. This mixture can be used for filling potholes and backfilling trench excavations. This mixture may have applications and commercial interest in other countries due to its low cost.
