The invention relates to the use of natural antifungal agents in order to prevent the infection of pruning wounds, grafts and lesions in woody plants by phytopathogenic fungi, comprising chitosan oligosaccharide, hydroalcoholic extract of garlic and/or vanillin, alone or in combination. The invention also relates to the application of chitosan oligosaccharide, hydroalcoholic extract of garlic and/or vanillin, alone or in combination, to pruning wounds, grafts or any other type of lesions affecting woody plants, preferably vines, in order to prevent infection by species of phytopathogenic fungi that cause wood diseases.
