A system (100) for use in road tolling posts, comprising a first optical device (110) for recording images of a carriageway (150) and a second apparatus for wireless communication with a vehicle apparatus (130), where the height above the road and the angle (α, s) in the lateral direction and the vertical in relation to the roadway are known by the first apparatus (110), and where the second apparatus can determine the coordinates for the apparatus ( 130) of vehicle in at least two directions through its communication with the vehicle apparatus (130), the system further comprises means for being able to detect one or more license plates (120) from an image taken using the first apparatus (110) optical, system (100) further comprising means for calculating the positions of license plates (120) detected in three directions, further comprising means to be able to determine any association between license plates (120) and vehicle apparatuses (130) by comparing said positions of the license plates (120) and said positions of the vehicle apparatuses (130), where the means for calculating the position of the license plates (120) use an assumed height above of the carriageway for license plates (120), and where the means for making comparisons use an assumed height above the roadway for the vehicle apparatus (130).
