Hypotonic Intraoperative Intraperitoneal Chemohyperthermia in Resection of Colorectal Cancer:A Clinical Study

2006
Objective:To investigate the clinical effect of hypotonic intraoperative intraperitoneal chemohyperthermia(HIPCH) in patients undergoing resection of colorectal cancer.Methods:Sixty-eight cases received HIPCH and other Sixty five cases in control group received only saline water lavage after radical resection. Results:No difference was found in the complication rate between the two groups(P0.05).The recurrence rate(5.88%) was much lower in HIPCG group than in control group(26.15%)(P0.05);the interval before tumor recurrence was significantly longer in HIPCH group than that in the control group(P0.01).The 1,3,and 5-year survival rates were 85.32%,68.30% and 57.62%,respectively in the treatment group, and 83.01%,50.79% and 41.53%,respectively in the control groups. There were significant differences in the 3 and 5-year survival rates between the two groups(P0.05).Conclusion:HIPCH was simple and could reduce postoperative recurrence following radical resection, improving the survival rate.
