Facile synthesis of Fe24N10/porous carbon as a novel high-performance anode material for lithium-ion batteries

2021
Abstract The application of iron nitrides in lithium-ion batteries is greatly hindered by the fast capacity decay. Fabricating iron nitride/porous carbon composite will bring about a superior electrochemical performance, but facile and green synthesis of this composite is a great challenge. In this work, a facile and green method is developed to prepare a novel Fe24N10/porous carbon composite. The obtained Fe24N10 particles are grown in porous carbon, which can significantly alleviate volume change during the cyclic process and elevate electrical conductivity and Li+ ion transfer. As a result, a high discharge capacity of 370 mA h g−1 is retained at 2000 mA g−1 after 300 cycles.
