Fiebre de origen oscuro secundaria a infección por Coxiella burnetti

Q Fever is an infectious disease caused by Coxiella Burnetti a bacterial obligate intracellular not capped, immobile and pleomorphic pathogen, the main source of infection is through inhalation of aerosols of slaughtered viscera of sheep, cattle and goats, but also can be implicated cats, dogs, rabbits and other species. The infection for C burnetti covers a broad spectrum of clinical manifestations from a subclinical infection to a severe organically commitment and potentially fatal. We present a case report in a 56 years old male attended at the Internal Medicine ward of the Hospital “Angeles del Pedregal” because a 25 days of Fever of Unknown Origin and lost of 8 kilograms, laboratory tests and biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of granulomatous Hepatitis provoked by infection of C. Burnetti and was treated with doxiciclin with good response. Q Fever is infrequently diagnosed in our environment and should be consider as a cause of fever of unknown origin and risk factors for acquisition.
