The efficacy of both the emetic syrup and the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) ipecac syrup concerning the prevention of drug absorption was investigated in 4 beagle dogs. Acetaminophen, salicylic acid and kanamycin as markers were administered orally after conditioning the intragastric pH at 1.5. The emetic syrup or the USP ipecac syrup was then administered
