Entre la escuela y el trabajo: Estrategias de formación y experiencias en el trabajo de los jóvenes egresados del secundario

2015
The article aims to explore strategies and links to work among young graduates from high school, referred to their training experiences as well as to their first work experiences. The article analyzes a group of young men and women from low socioeconomic households, that have graduated from two institutions whose objective is to offer vocational training. Both institutions share the strategy of linking young people with formal employment, by the content of the training and by the concrete offering of a work experience in a real context. This particular group of young people is observed since, from a first glance, their pathways are characterized by an early labour inclusion in terms of certain stability, in contrast to what the trend for this social group sets. Based on in depth interviews with young graduates, the paper analyzes, in first place, the relationship with the world of work during high school and subsequently. Secondly, training strategies linked to these labour insertions are observed, noting particularly youngsters’ motivations, expectations, learning and experiences around them. Finally, the article analyses the processes of subjectivation and disciplining to work since these initial educational and labour experiences.
