New flexibility services and technologies: ENEL experiences in Italy

The achievement of the objectives set by the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference and the National Energy and Climate Plan entails a strong shift in the paradigm of electricity generation as well as supply of ancillary services necessary to guarantee the stability of the electrical system. To meet these needs, globally several initiatives are underway with the aim of identifying a series of potential solutions, already in place or that can be adopted in the near future. The article presents Enel’s involvement and the projects the company is working on.
