Supporting and Educating Carers in Palliative Care

2007
In 2003, the Australian government announced $4.5 million funding for a number of palliative care projects under the Caring Communities Program. Carers NSW successfully applied for funding to undertake a project that would support and educate carers in relation to modern palliative care. The project, Supporting and Educating Carers in Palliative Care had the theme, 'taking the scare out of palliative care'. The project ran over three years, in conjunction with three Commonwealth Carer Respite Centres in the Illawarra, Central Coast and South East Sydney areas of New South Wales. This article provides an outline of the project's aims and findings.
