Land Characterizations Based on Soil Properties Using Clustering Techniques

2014
3 Abstract: Soil characteristics determine the mode of cultivation. Agriculture based occupation is declining due to various factors. Need of the hour is to improve agriculture and important requirement is to identify soil requirements. Soil can be characterized using physical properties: EC, ph, bulk density etc and chemical properties that can be sub divided into macro nutrients: phosphorous, potassium and nitrogen, micro nutrients: zinc, iron, copper etc., soil samples from Tiruvarur District in the state of Tamilnadu,Indiawere checked for the above parameters. Multivariate techniques such as Clustering and Principal Component Analysis is employed to classify the soil and indicate the essential requirements for the soil .
