Historical, economic and social report of the Quilombo of Santa Rita de Barreira, São Miguel do Guamá, Pará State, Brazil

The objective of this article is to establish a historical, economic and social account of the quilombo of Santa Rita de Barreira, located in the municipality of Sao Miguel do Guama, Para, Brazil. The methodological procedure used was bibliographic research and semi-structured interview for data collection, with the residents of the referred quilombo. The research revealed that even in the face of struggles and resistance to ensure their quilombola way of life, preserving their knowledge and customs, there is no recognition or visibility of this quilombo before Guamaense society. Therefore, there is a need for these peoples to have greater visibility so that Brazilian society can value them, as their importance for the country transcends Brazilian national construction.
