No Wrong Door: Designing Systems to Foster Collaboration in Support of Child Development

2017
The identification and treatment of child developmental disabilities is a complex process that may involve people with different professional backgrounds who struggle to collaborate on behalf of affected children. Information technology (IT) systems could help many diverse stakeholders collaborate, however the current literature does not provide clear guidance on how to design such systems. Models and theories relevant to collaboration could inform designs, yet are rarely used in the design process. My dissertation aims to demonstrate the use of these models and theories to create a system to support the complex child development support space.
