INNOVATIONSADOPTION INOM ORGANISATIONER Förhållandet mellan adoption av nya IT-system och anställdas attityd till IT-system

2018
Previous research within the field of organizational innovation adoption has inves-tigated the effects of several different factors on employees’ attitudes toward new innovations. This paper addresses the research gap that exist, to the best of our knowledge, in the relationship between the employees’ perceived reasons for adopting an innovation and their attitude toward the innovation, more specifically new information technologies. The purpose of this study is also to give an insight into innovation adoption in a Swedish organizational context, since most of the studies in this area of research has been conducted in other parts of the world. A survey was conducted by distributing a digital questionnaire to a sample of the target population by using convenience sampling, the number of respondents being 272. The results indicate that there is a strong, positive correlation between the em-ployees’ perceived reasons for adopting a new information technology and their attitudes to the information technology in question. Furthermore, there is a weak to moderate correlation between repetitive usage of an information technology system and employees’ attitudes toward that system in Swedish organizations. Our conclusion is that it is likely to make predictions about the employees’ atti-tudes toward a new information technology from the employees’ perceived reasons for adoption and that conclusions from previous research about the relationship between repetitive usage and attitude is also applicable in the Swedish organiza-tional context. Chances of successful implementations can hopefully be increased by highlighting the importance of explaining reasons for adoption to employees.
