Fotocoagulación panretiniana versus criocoagulación panretiniana en el tratamiento de la neovascularización del iris diabético.

1992
We study the evolution of diabetic iris neovascularization in 85 eyes. We divided the population in three groups: control group (29 eyes), panretinal photocoagulation treated group (37 eyes), incomplete panretinal photocoagulation treated group (4 eyes) and panretinal cryocoagulation treated group (15 eyes). We evaluate the diminution, regression, stabilization or augmentation of the iris new-vessels in the groups mentioned at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months. In the comparative study among groups we apreciate the progresion of new-vessels in 62% of the control group, and the regresion in 17.5%. In the treated group were respectively 13% and 87% in laser-treated group and 7.7% and 77% in the cryo-treated group. In conclusion the evolution in control group is towards progression comparing to treated group (p< 0,0001).
