Success Rate Evaluation For Interferometer Ambiguity Resolving

Success rate evaluation of ambiguity resolution in interferometer-based direction finding (DF) system is utmost important. In this paper, the ambiguity resolution problem is analyzed from a maximum-likelihood (ML) perspective, and the orthogonal projection is utilized to derive the expression of ambiguity resolution success rate. Due to the irregular shape of the pull-in region of successful ambiguity resolution, no closed-form expressions for this ambiguity success rate exist except the particular ternary linear array case. To cope with this, a numerical method is proposed to approximate the success rate accurately. Simulation results demonstrate the validity of our formulation about ambiguity resolution success rate.
