Effects of nuclear deformation onEu151,153(p,n)151,153Gd reactions

Total cross sections for the $^{151,153}\mathrm{Eu}$(p,n${)}^{151,153}$Gd reactions have been measured between 5 and 12 MeV. We observe a significant (\ensuremath{\le}35%) enhancement of the cross sections for $^{153}\mathrm{Eu}$ relative to $^{151}\mathrm{Eu}$ and find that the enhancement below \ensuremath{\sim}10 MeV is due largely to the shape difference between $^{151}\mathrm{Eu}$(${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\beta}}}_{2}$=0.13) and $^{153}\mathrm{Eu}$(${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\beta}}}_{2}$=0.28).
