STUDY OF THE CIRCULATION TIME OF PERIPHERAL BLOOD BY MEANS OF I$sup 131$- LABELED HUMAN SERUM ALBUMIN. I. BLOOD CIRCULATION IN THE FEET

1962
By means of injection of albumin-I/sup 131/ in the antecubital vein followed by scintillometric measurements over the foot, it was found possible to assess the peripheral circulation. Patients with obliterative arterial disease showed normal radioactivity curves at rest, but during excercise the relative blood flow and velocity of circulation were much lower than in healthy control subjects. The optimal dose of albumin-I/sup 131/ was 40 mc and was injected in a volume of 0.5-1.0 ml saline in a period of 1-2 sec, and measurements were made for 7 min thereafter. (H.H.D.)
