Effects of positive psychological intervention on mental growth and quality of life in young and middle-aged patients with myocardial infarction

2017
Objective To explore the effects of positive psychological intervention on mental growth and quality of life in young and middle-aged patients with myocardial infarction. Methods A total of 110 middle-aged patients with myocardial infarction were randomly divided into observation group (n=55, positive psychological intervention) and control group (n=55, conventional nursing) according to the random number table. Patients of two groups were assessed with the post traumatic growth inventory (PTGI) and the posttraumatic stress disorder checklist-civilian version (PCL-C) . Results One month after leaving the hospital, there were statistically significant differences in scores of PCL-C and PTGI between observation group [ (79.10±23.35) , (27.95±6.55) ; t=18.420, P<0.05] and control group [ (70.34±11.69) , (34.45±7.78) ; t=4.542, P<0.05]. The score of the quality of life in PF, RP, BP, GH, VT, SF, RE and MH patients in observation group was higher than those in control group with significant differences (P<0.05) . Conclusions The positive psychological intervention can promote the mental growth after morbidity, improve the long-term efficacy and quality of life of young and middle-aged patients significantly.
