Dual band-notched UWB antenna with L-Shaped slots and Triangular EBG structures

This paper proposed a planar, small size printed microstrip line fed modified rectangular shape ultra-wideband antenna having dual band-notched response. By incorporating pair of L-shaped slots on the patch and triangular shaped electromagnetic band gap structure the band notched response can be realised. The presented antennas are optimized using IE3D, fabricated on low cost FR-4 substrate with dielectric constant 4.3 followed by measurement. The measured results indicate that the presented antennas having dimensions of 60mm × 80 mm × 1.6mm has impedance bandwidth in frequency range 1.5-10.6 GHz with Return Loss ≤ -10 dB, except 2.94-3.65 GHz and 5.2-5.76 GHz. The proposed antenna shows stable gain, almost omnidirectional radiation pattern, insignificant group delay variation in the passband frequencies. Acceptable results are achieved in frequency as well as time-domain analysis for antenna.
