2013
This study examined the execution of the closed period (IBAMA Ordinance No. 48/2007) in the main fairs of Macapa - AP. This study was conducted in four fairs in the city of Macapa (Perpetuo Socorro, Pacoval, Novo Horizonte and Buritizal), which were administered two questionnaires, the first being directed to the fairground, and the second to consumers. Based on these data, it was found that 22 species protected by the regulation at issue, 18 were found at fairs, coming both from the state of Amapa, Para and as other states of Brazil (Mato Grosso, Amazonas, Maranhao and Rio Grande do Sul). The second questionnaire (applied to consumers), it was possible to determine that 47% of people surveyed do not know what it is closed season, 86% are unaware of the date of this prohibition, that 74,7% could not tell which species were prohibited from be sold, 58,3% had no knowledge about the institution responsible for the oversight of fairs and that 39% reported having variation in the price of fish, however, are unaware of the cause of this. Through the above suggests that the competent institutions to promote educational campaigns about the closed season for consumers and the community in general that way, they can also help preserve these resources.
