EXPECTATIVAS Y ESTEREOTIPOS DE GÉNERO EN LA RELACIÓN ENTRE PADRES E HIJAS 1 Expectations and gender stereotypes in fathers and daughters relationship

The aim of this qualitative investigation was to analyze the expectative and gender stereotype in the relationship between fathers and daughters. The analysis is illustrated with data from in-deep interviews with six Mexican fathers of middle-class involved in a parent education program. An interview guide was used to explore the expectancies and activities that fathers carry out with their daughters, regarding the education styles that they should be given to a boy or girl. The results show a change in fathers’ expectancies about their daughters, incorporating ideas as to become autonomous and successful women,
