P-075: Hypovitaminosis D in children with IBD assessed for bone metabolism

2014
IBD may compromise skeletal integrity in children and is a recognised risk of osteoporosis in adulthood. The aim was to assess bone metabolism in children with IBD at diagnosis and one year after the onset. There were 58 children (36 female, 22 male), 41 with Crohn's 17 with UC. Our results indicate that IBD in children did not considerably impair the skeleton, but 69% of our patients had hypovitaminosis D. It should be treated.
