The preparation and 119Sn mössbauer spectra of [Sn2F3] [MF6] (M As, Sb)

Abstract Tin(II) fluoride reacts with Lewis acids, AsF 5 and SbF 5 , in a 2:1 ratio, to give salts of the [Sn 2 F 3 + ] cation. Reaction of SnF·MF 6 with SnF 2 in liquid SO 2 also produces the [Sn 2 F 3 ] [MF 6 ] salt. Tin-119 Mossbauer data are presented and compared with those for SnF 2 , SnF·MF 6 and Sn(SbF 6 ) 2 .
