Short screening tests for dementia in the elderly population. II. The combined use of more than one test
1992
In the present report, the effects of combining two or more of four short screening tests for dementia in the elderly population were studied using GMS-AGECAT organic levels as the criterion. Both the combined cut-off scores and the summed test scores appeared to have clear advantages over the use of one test for the efficacy of case detection and for the comparability of studies. Costs and benefits of this procedure are discussed. In population-based studies the addition of another screening test to the MMSE is recommended.
