Trattamento dell’alluce rigido

2016
Hallux valgus and hallux rigidus are the most common pathologies of the first metatarsal head. Their symptoms include joint pain during motion, especially in the push-off phases of walking, and a limited ROM, especially during extension, which can lead to alterations in the normal foot biomechanics as well as to skin alterations in the most severe cases. This is why clinical assessment of the status and radiographic examinations are necessary to formulate a proper diagnosis. Conservative treatment often represents a palliative care measure; however, it is the first therapeutic approach considered before switching to surgical procedures, such as cheilotomy, mostly used in the initial phases of the disease, and other osteotomy techniques, all performed through minimally invasive surgery.
