Systems and methods for controlling controllers for maximum power point tracking

A method of operating a controller for the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller that includes a switch circuit, adapted to transmit power between an input terminal and an output terminal, comprising the steps of: (a) in a first operating mode of the MPPT controller causing a first switching device of the switching circuit to operate at a fixed duty cycle; and (b) in a second operating mode of the MPPT controller causing a control switching device of the switching circuit to repeatedly switch between its conductive and non-conductive state to maximize a coupled out of an electrically connected to the input terminal photovoltaic device amount of power.
