HBIM. Parametric families from point clouds in heritage elements

The conservation of heritage sites requires precise knowledge of the elements to be preserved. To this end, tools and methodologies must involve the integration of as much accessible and ordered information as possible while at the same time permitting the ongoing update of data. Defensive elements have an important presence in the Iberian Peninsula and owing to both how widespread they are and the presence of recurring elements, the use of adaptative families on these characteristic elements offers an important step forward in their introduction into BIM methodology (Building Information Modelling). BIM technology allows the generation of virtual models using parametric information of the physical and functional characteristics of a building while setting up a reliable database for decision taking during its lifecycle . This technology was first used in construction projects over 15 years ago. This communication presents a set of parametric families in defensive elements of the wall of Caceres generated on the base of a geometric BIM study using point clouds obtained from a scanner laser survey of the site.
