The Indian example: planning as a political way of life.
1972
Health planning in India is established as a part of the general planning for socioeconomic development. It is also part of the political process because the Prime Minister supervises all planning processes. Work at the planning stage is done by specialized expert groups. Implementation of health plans is carried out at the state level. Only certain specialized health activities come under the national government. Agreement concerning national policies and coordination at all levels of government is necessary if the planning is to be successful. The family planning program is integrated into the regular health services and community development services. The program provides facilities motivation campaigns supplies and information. A special National Institute for Health Administration and Education has been established to handle problems in the health field.
