Influence of a Metallic Radiator on a Multiband LTE MIMO Antenna System
2018
This paper presents a study on the influence of a metallic radiator in the very close environment of a MIMO antenna system, with four accesses located at the four corners of the ground plane. Each access feeds a radiating structure made up of three radiating elements: a main folded monopole and two parasitic folded elements. This antenna designed to be placed in a smart cell to cover three LTE bands: [0.7-0.9], [1.71-1.88] and [2.5-2.69] GHz. While its presence could have penalized them, the performances of the antenna were improved with this radiator used as a reflector, allowing to reduce the back radiation, to reflect it forward and thus to double the realized gain (5.75 dB), therefore allowing to reduce the return loss, and to improve the efficiency (80%).
