Mechanical Properties and Tribology Performance of the Ekonol-PEEK Composite

Ekonol-PEEK composites were prepared by the mechanical mixture and compression molding method, and their hardness, compression strength, impact strength, and bending strength have been tested. The tribology behavior has also been investigated by the friction and wear experiment. The worn surface of the composite has been studied by the SEM technique, and on the basis of it, the wear mechanism has been analyzed. Results show that it is possible to prepare Ekonol-PEEK composites of good tribology performance by the compression molding method, and their mechanical properties can meet the requirement for use. With the rise of Ekonol contents, the wear mechanism has been changed from microcutting, skin wear, transfer wear to fatigue wear.
