An All Position Automatic Welding Machine of Large Diameter Penstock

An all position automatic welding machine was designed to deal with the problems of high labor intensity, low production efficiency and inconsistent weld quality in on-site welding of large diameter penstock. The welding machine adopts flexible track to adapt to different diameters. In order to meet the needs of different sizes and forms of welding grooves, welding torch swing device is applied. The deviation between weld seam and welding torch caused by inaccurate groove processing accuracy, improper site installation and deformation in welding process can be reduced and eliminated by the device. The welding control system uses ARM microcontroller for welding process control. Results show that the welding machine is suitable for all position welding of large diameter penstock which is static.
