Performance of sheep fed processed poultry excreta as protein supplement

Poultry excreta collected from a deep litter poultry house was deep-stacked alone or ensiled with poor quality hay (Rhodes/kikuyu grass). The processing improved the palatabilqity of the excreta and the performance of sheep fed the excreta-containing diets. The animals fed deep-stacked poultry excreta and hay had average daily gain of 98 g and improved feed efficiency. Feeding of hay alone resulted in loss of weight and poor feed efficiency.
