Herbicides metazachlor and propachlor soil biodegradation in cauliflower crops: Effects of the recent organic fertilizers

1994
One of the metazachlor or propachlor herbicides were applied 7 days after cauliflower planting in the field. During the first 45 days crop period, the rates of metazachlor and propachlor soil biodegradation were lower in the plots recently treated with an organic fertilizer, than in the control plots not treated with organic fertilizers. The intensity of the slowing down effect was in the following increasing order: green manure propachlor soil concentrations due to the recent organic fertilizer treatments corresponded to greater herbicide protection efficiencies. After the first 45 days crop period, the rates of metazachlor and propachlor soil biodegradations increased, and the herbicides soil concentrations became very low and similar in the organic fertilizers treated and untreated plots.
