A Clinical Analysis of Delayed Neuropathy Caused by Organophosphorus Pesticide Poisoning

Objective To explore the occurrence and development of delayed neuropathy caused by organophosphorus pesticide poisoning. Methods 2019 patients with organophosphorus pesticide poisoning were followed up. Among them, 98 patients who were diagnosed as delayed nearopathy were analyzed synthetically. Results ① The average latent period of the delayed neuropathy was 12 to 32 days (average 21 days). And the incidence of delayed nearopathy caused by organophosphorus pesticide posisoning was 2.7% to 7.2%(average 4.9%). ② The initial symptoms were weakness and limb paralysis. The main signs were symmetric hypoalgesia in extremities, carpoptoses, footdrop and hyporeflexia or areflexia of tendon reflex. ③ The neurogenic lesion was shown in electromyography. ④ 92% of the patients were recovered in one year. Conclusions The incidence of the delayed nearopthy was related to kind of the organophosphorus pesticide. The prognosis of the disease is good after treatment in time. Glucocorticoid was help to recover the function of the injured nerves.
