The invention provides a safety check device and a ray detection method, relating to the safety check field. The safety check device comprises a ray emitter and a ray detector, wherein the ray detector comprises a front scattering detector located on the opposite side of an object to be measured relative to the ray emitter, and also comprises a back scattering detector located between the ray emitter and the object to be measured, and/or a transmission detector located on the opposite side of the object to be measured relative to the ray emitter. The safety check device is provided with the front scattering detector to cooperate with the back scattering detector to reduce detection blind angles, and to optimize the detection of opposite side inner information of a radiation source, and to cooperate with the transmission detector to simultaneously detect high and low density substances, thereby optimizing detection effects of the object to be measured, and improving detection accuracy.
