This dissertation with the title “Methods of Learning French Using Electronic Media” is focused on the use of selected applications as a complement for teaching and learning. These applications can also function as a motivational agent for the pupils to master the material in a more efficient way. Proposed activities were taken from the lessons in the textbook “Connexion 1”. This project’s target group are pupils aged 10-15 years. The theoretical part includes an analysis of strategies and styles of learning, which are integral to the process of learning. In subsequent chapters, the didactic theories of learning are expounded, which are closely related to the roles of a teacher and a pupil. Selected applications and their functions are descibed here that support respective strategies and styles of learning. In one of the subchapters, these applications are compared with respect to their suitability. The conclusion of the theoretical part deals with the financial aspect since some of the applications have subscription fees. The practical part explains the structure and use of each application. Subsequently, the pedagogical notes for the teacher lay out a potential teaching approach with the textbook „Connexion 1“. The activities supporting instruction based on this textbook are described in the first part of these notes. The description of work with the tablet applications are to be found in the second part. The closing part of the pedagogical notes explains the method of work for the pupil’s home study. The teacher plays a key role in clarifying strategies and ways of utilization of the proposed methods and tools. The pedagogical notes for the pupil include a design for work using electronic applications in class. The methods of work for home self-study are described in the personal notes for the pupil. The outcome of this dissertation is a designed approach for teaching and learning which will support and develop strategies and styles of learning by various activities and work with tablet applications. Pupils should gradually adopt this approach with the help of a teacher so that they would consequently be able to learn individually, effectively and in an entertaining way.
