This is a power supply system for a starter which includes a capacitor (2, 3). This capacitor is charged by a battery (1) via a load circuit including resistors (7, 8, 12, 13) which charges the capacitor by dividing a battery voltage by the resistors. This capacitor is discharged to the starter via a discharge circuit which applies to the starter a charged voltage of the capacitor in addition to the battery voltage. When the starter is driven, the capacitance of the connection is switched from the charging circuit to the discharge circuit by an ECU (4) and switching relay (11, 14).
